Match the stone to the location
Reserve softer, more porous marbles for lower-traffic and vertical surfaces. For lobby floors and reception tops, consider harder marbles, quartzite or well-sealed options that tolerate footfall and cleaning.
Consider finish, not just colour
Honed and brushed finishes hide wear and etching better than high polish in busy areas. The right finish can extend the life of a floor considerably.
Plan for consistency
Across a large fit-out, batch and vein consistency matters as much as the individual slab. Block-matching and set-out drawings keep the finished result coherent.
Design for maintenance
Agree sealing and cleaning guidance early, and detail transitions and thresholds to protect edges. A beautiful floor that is easy to maintain is the real goal.
